PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In the jubilee year of the 45th anniversary of its existence, the Polish Dance Theatre has prepared an interdisciplinary monograph, colliding a scientific-research reflection with an artistic interpretation of the phenomenon of dance theater.
The publication breaks with the traditional formula of the occasional publication, proposing a broad perspective on the perception of dance, going beyond the contemporary discourses on this phenomenon. This is due to the authors of texts, outstanding specialists from various artistic and research areas, from humanities to exact sciences. These are: Prof. Dobrochna Ratajczakowa (theatre studies), Prof. Honorata Jakubowska (sociology), Prof. Dorota Piontek (political science), Prof. Agnieszka Jelewska (media art), Prof. Roman Kubicki (philosophy), Prof. Janusz Bałdyga (performance), Prof. Włodzisław Duch (physics) i Prof. Zbigniew Kozub (composer). The use of various theoretical and interpretative tools has resulted in extremely different, often surprising approaches to dance, which can be a reference point for subsequent researchers. In addition, the bilingual volume (prepared in Polish and English), gained a unique editorial value - the whole publication took the form of a kinetic sculpture, symbolically referring to the efforts of the Polish Dance Theater to obtain its own space - "house for dancing". Its graphic design has equivalent value to the text content.

The eloquent typographic gestures, variety of papers, and sensitive colors—as well as the bold moves with fluorescents and fold-outs—is stunning and fitting for a book on expressive theatrical movement and performance. — Daphne Geismar
