PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Lou Reed’s biography.
The cover was developed in yellow and black in reference to the anthological album The Velvet Underground & Nico, produced and designed by Andy Warhol. As “the banana album” is an iconic image, the reference is immediate for Lou Reed fans.
Thinking a kind of souvenir for the fans, all type of the front cover is printed in silk on a transparent acetate, a layer that can be removed after purchase, leaving the cover with just the artist's photo, without any textual information.
On the back cover, the overlapping of two blurbs (one printed on the cover and the other on the jacket) brings an attractive typographic composition.
On the entire back, an image of graffiti of New York, in reference to the punk/noise movement contrasts with the clean language of the cover and complements the context.
Considering that this book was designed for Lou Reed's fans and the author is american and not known in Brazil, the cover design highlights the photo of the artist, the title and subtitle to commercially enhance the product.
The name of the author appears only on the spine, at a second hierarchical level.
