PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This catalog was published on the occasion of the exhibition at MASI Lugano during 2024 of more than 30 masterpieces by Alexander Calder made between 1930 and 1960.
Calder changed the way we perceive sculpture by introducing movement into art with his legendary mobiles.
A book is a static object. We used two planes to make the cover as a nod to the movement: the transparent jacket on which one of his first works, Croisière, (germ of mobile phones) is printed, and the cloth-bound hard cover, on which his last name appears printed in capital letters. On the cover, the image is superimposed on the text, interacting with it, directing our attention to two characteristic elements of Calder's work: metal threads and spheres.
