PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Inhabited Machines is the first volume of a new peer reviewed academic publication series. The project is conceived as a modular series design, consisting of two typefaces GT America (main text) and GT Sectra (folio and running head), a typographic cover composition in black and one spot color (each volume will have a different color and make the series distinguishable in the libraries), and an image-based back cover. Compared to the typical scholarly publication, the text size is held at a slightly larger scale to improve reading comfort. The book is printed on uncoated paper stock, and it is hard bound and sewn to guarantee durability. Inhabited Machines opens with a cinematic visual sequence composed of details from key images in the book. It offers a preview of some of the main materials discussed. Each section transition continues as a sequence of immersive visual sources and is marked with a black title page, which can also be traced in the section of the book.
