PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A fast-paced comic mystery about a novel discovered in the rejected manuscripts section of a small library in Brittany, a masterpiece inconceivably written by a now-deceased pizza chef. The pizza box-inspired artwork on the cardboard slipcase sets the humorous tone (the publishers really liked the idea and embraced it to the point of providing a phone line exclusively to the book). On the cover, the metalanguage aspect of a novel about a novel is represented by the title page of the fictional book – properly identified with oregano and tomato sauce – with sections removed, revealing the title and author of the real book, printed on the back of the flap. The photographic scalpel marks matched with the physical die cuts create a unique effect and immerse the reader in the unsolved puzzle.

“Content is king, or in this case a pizza chef(?) We all know this book has a bit of pizza with a touch of humor. The design communicates what this book is all about without giving away too much at first glance.”
