PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Taking encyclopedic form, Marina Roy’s Queuejumping eloquently unspools manifestations of capitalist, colonialist, scientific, and cultural impulses within the evolution and migration of the letter Q: from queens, queers, quadrupeds, and al-Qaeda; to quotation, quiddity, quantum, and quotidian.
Queuejumping is concerned with the origins of hegemonic forces, what is lost by “winning”, and what is gained by stepping out of line. The book design embraces its sculptural "objecthood" to assist in connoting a historical form that leads the reader towards a specified reading only to be up-ended and delighted by Marina Roy's agile and nuanced art writing, memoir, literary criticism, and poetry.
