PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In this deeply moving novel, Yunjae is born with a condition called alexithymia, which affects the two almond-shaped neurons deep in his brain. He struggles to feel emotions like fear and anger but despite this develops an unusual friendship with a peer that changes both of their lives forever.
The delicately balanced cover design reflects Yunjae’s precariously navigated adolescence. The subtitle “A Novel” is tucked into an almond shape where his neurons would be found, and similar shapes throughout the jacket are scaled versions of the same almond.
Soft-touch lamination contrasts with coarse, gritty matte on the printed jacket, much like Yunjae’s youth and innocence in a disorderly world.
